Rachel Forrister, MS, MFT is a Master’s level Marriage & Family Therapist.

She is in the process of obtaining her LAMFT license and is under supervision. Rachel works with children, adolescents, and adults. She has a passion for helping individuals, couples, and families navigate complex relationships. Rachel places a strong emphasis on empowering her clients by creating a safe, non-judgemental environment for them to take ownership of their experiences, feelings, and beliefs.  

She is Gottman Level I certified, working towards completing her Gottman Trauma and Affairs Certificate, certified in Terry Real's Relational Life Therapy in Action, certified in Integrative Medicine and Nutrition for PTSD and Complex Trauma, as well as certified in Mindfulness and Somatic Therapy Techniques. She has received continuing education in treating communication challenges, neurodivergent individuals, LGBTQ+ family and individual unique challenges, as well as premarital clients. 

Rachel uses a variety of modalities including Internal Family Systems Therapy, Experiential Family Therapy, Narrative Family Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Relational Life Therapy in response to clients' unique needs. Rachel enjoys using parts work and somatic interventions to help clients heal from trauma and attachment wounds. She uses art therapy to help clients process and express themselves congruently. Rachel is passionate about working with individuals with relationship trauma, anxiety, ADHD, and shame.

When working with couples, Rachel focuses on enhancing communication, connection, intimacy, and harmony within the individual members of the couple and the relational unit as well. 

Rachel enjoys helping couples identify and correct negative patterns that leave them feeling trapped in a vicious cycle. She also enjoys working with couples experiencing the "growing pains" of life transitions as well as attachment wounds. Rachel is passionate about supporting those with communication challenges, mixed-agendas, premarital needs, trauma, and affair recovery.

When working with families, Rachel emphasizes uplifting each member's voice and experience. She is dedicated to helping families shape new narratives that support more cohesive relationships. Rachel enjoys working with families with communication challenges, LGBTQ+ members, blending or separating/ co-parenting, and parent/child conflict. 

Rachel works very closely with the team here and her supervisors to ensure great coordination of care for clients. She is a tenacious, go-getter who is always eager to help and adds amazing value to her team, inspiring them to stay sharp, hungry, and fresh.

Outside of the therapy room, Rachel’s hobbies include baking, painting, connecting with nature, reading, watching cheesy reality television shows, and snuggling with her dog who isn’t aware that she’s a dog. She loves adventures, traveling to new places, and trying new foods. Rachel appreciates a good dad joke or pun- and always welcomes the sharing of either. If she’s ever out of the office, you can bet she is probably at Disney World!

Education

Rachel received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of West Georgia here in Carrollton. She later obtained her Master of Family Therapy from Mercer University.
